The purpose is to continue Peyton's legacy of reaching out to help others who are in need of help to reclaim their lives with compassion and to provide HOPE in the face of life's greatest adversity...loosing a loved one to a senseless act of violence and the aftermath of the tragedy. One goal of the Peyton Tuthill Foundation is to award as many scholarships as financially possible to help survivors rebuild their lives and achieve their dreams. Peyton's view of world was this "We can watch things happen or we can make them happen." Which will you do? Who is eligible? Children who have lost a parent to homicide, sibling to homicide or the surviving spouse are eligible to apply . For eligibility, applicants must be at least 18 years old have completed one year of grief counseling through a counseling center, hospice, grief support group, faith-based program or other nationally recognized services. One recipient from each region of the country as defined under the geographical regions of the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision (ICAOS) regions. What does the scholarship provide? Annual scholarships in the amount of up to $1000 per academic year payable to the college or university provided the student remains in good academic and social standing at the school. How do I apply? Applicants must complete the application form and submit a one to two-page essay about the impact of crime on their life, how counseling has helped them in the grief process and why the scholarship is important to them. Applications may be submitted by mail or email. Applicants must provide a copy of their letter of acceptance by the community college or university with application to be considered. When do I apply and where do I send the application? All applications will be excepted from December 1, 2007 through May 1, 2008. Hearts of Hope Scholarship

Scholarship recipients will be notified by registered mail. Other applications will be notified by email or if the applicant does not have email notification will be by mail.
